He was a prolific writer whose other works include science fiction stories, historical novels, plays and romances, poetry, and non-fiction.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Conan was originally a given name, but Doyle used it as part of his surname in his later years.&lt;/p&gt;
